Valentine Heart Pattern

01 Valentine HeartValentines Day is fast approaching, (yes, it is only January, however, we all know how fast time can fly), and I wanted to share a little valentine heart pattern with you.

This cute heart can be made into sweet valentines for your kiddos class valentine parties or even made into a banner with a simple chain stitch chain attaching your hearts.  Now would be the perfect time to get a jump start for your sweethearts!


Valentine Heart

Approximately 3 inches around

Supplies:

Small Amount Worsted Weight Yarn – I used “I Love This Yarn” by Hobby Lobby Color #50 Cranberry

I Hook

Tapestry Needle

Heart Shaped Lollypop with stem cut down to about 3 inches– I found mine at Walmart in a bouquet of 8 for $1


Round 1 – In magic ring, 19 dc, do not join, slip stitch in center of ring,  see photo, tighten ring

02 Valentine Heart

Round 2 – Ch 1, sc in 1st dc, 2 hdc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, 2 hdc in next dc, sc in next 5 dc, ch 2 loosely, sc in next 5 dc, 2 hdc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, 2 hdc in next dc, sc in next dc, slip stitch in last dc, join with slip stitch in ch 1 at beginning of round

Round 3 – Ch 1, sc in next 2 stitches, 2 hdc in next stitch, 2 dc in next stitch, 2 hdc in next stitch, sc in next 7 stitches, (sc, ch 2, sc) in ch 2 space, sc in next 7 stitches, 2 hdc in next stitch, 2 dc in next stitch, 2 hdc in next stitch, sc in next 2 stitches, slip stitch in last stitch, join with slip stitch to ch 1 at beginning of round

Fasten off, weave in ends. Slip lollypop through heart as shown in photo.
